As these are terrible times, these are equally great times as we see God’s hand in the affairs of men. If there was ever a time when God’s Word is real, is this times. God is using the happenings of the world to point men back to Himself and to explode the pretensions of those that claim to know and serve God but are actually serving their stomachs. Beloved, don’t be a silent or a willing participant in the teachings that do not glorify God by pointing men back to Him: “…I found it necessary to write and exhort you to contend for the faith that was delivered to the saints once for all. For certain men, who were designated for this judgment long ago, have come in by stealth; they are ungodly, turning the grace of our God into promiscuity and denying our Master and Lord, Jesus Christ” (Jude 3 and 4). We are indeed in times when there is a marked difference between those that are serving God in truth and those serving for their stomachs: “So you will again see the difference between the righteous and the wicked, between one who serves God and who does not serve Him” (Malachi 3:18).
As a child of God, we must be alert so as not to be led astray by those that claim to be of the Lord but are not. Beloved, the coming of the Lord is at hand; as a result of this, many teachings are going forth, drawing men’s attention away from their state and teaching them how they can make their mark upon the land of the living using their ‘innate wisdom’. Several teachings are being churned out that negates the essence of why man is on the earth. We seemed to have forgotten that our existence is not for us but for HIM! For us to be able to live for Him, we must discard ‘self’ and put on Christ: “But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no plans to satisfy the fleshly desires” (Romans 13:14). A man that does not know God’s Word is not different from a blind man walking on a dangerous path. The Bible tells us to read and meditate on God’s Word daily. This will not only help us to make our way prosperous, but will equally help us to discern error teachings by wolves in sheep’s clothing parading as servants of the Most High God.

Beloved, there are so many interpretations of God’s Word, such that most teachings from most pulpits leave congregants more confused than when they came in through the door. God’s Word cannot be used to excuse evil neither can it be used to cover up evil. A situation when we don’t see anything wrong with sin practically prancing around the altar and dancing within the congregation with no fear of conviction…something is gravely wrong with the Word we claim to have received. This happens when the Word of God is not taught in its entirety but is reduced to mere words, or inferred reasoning are taught as the Word, this will make the hearers unable to live God’s acceptable life. This was what the Pharisees did. They added to the laws and commands of God by laying down their own traditions and customs, which in their opinion will make it easy to follow the laws of God, but these traditions and customs suffocated the laws of God and made them ineffective. As a result it made it impossible for the people to keep the laws of God as He gave them. For instance, in Acts chapter 15 an argument arose concerning circumcision. Believers that converted from the sect of the Pharisees muddled up the teachings of Christ by holding on to the traditions and customs of their former belief. So many these days believe in Jesus Christ but are still holding on to some tenets of the world system; making it impossible for them to obey God completely or to teach same.
Beloved, open your eyes and your heart. If you believe that Jesus Christ is coming back again and He will judge the earth; then you should understand that you serve a Righteous God that cannot be bought or bribed. You need to know His Word and to practice it: “Every word of God is pure; He is a shield to those who put their trust in Him. Do not add to His words’ lest He rebukes you, and you be found a liar” (Proverbs 30:5-6). May the Lord help you to keep alert as we await His return in Jesus Christ name. God bless you.
